Dear True North Supporters,
We have had our challenges! The hospital has two sterilizers in the OR and one has a 60 minute cycle.. we like this one, and it is broken. The other has a 90 minute cycle which works but there are some rolling power shortages. Whenever these occur, the hospital generator kicks in. However if the power goes off even transiently, the cycle must be restarted.
We need to turnover all our sets at least once per day. Nonetheless we are planning a busy surgical program. The clinic started and we saw at least 90 patients. We believe we can operate on 50 patients with 64 tentatively booked. We will have to decide based on need.
The clinic had a lot of very down to earth patients grateful to be seen. The gratitude is reciprocal that we have their trust. This is very rewarding spiritually.
After a long work day the team went for dinner, lots of fantastic food for all appetites. We are praying for rain to break the South American drought.
Please see the photos and tune in tomorrow.
