2025 Mission Update – Day 3

Dear TNMS Loyalists:

Day 3 has gone well so far. The focus of the day is hospital set up and clinic where patient selection and education takes place. We as a group screened just under 90 patients and selected 51 for surgery. This will be an ambitious program for sure.

No matter the strategy to assess patients, the clinic usually ends with a bang as several very unwell impaired, often deconditioned patients with not so routine surgical problems are added. The theme this year will be complex hip replacement with shallow hip sockets. There are a few revision patients that require careful planning. The team is well prepped and planning very carefully.

Our relationship with the hospital is strong as ever and we really appreciate their partnership. We have been at the Santa Ines now for many years, virtually problem free. The care is excellent.

A big shout out to Smith and Nephew for all they have done over the years and this year, they supply our implants and instruments.

The Rotary team met us at the airport and generously hosted us at the Rotary clubhouse to run clinic. Tonight is a night of fellowship and great food. The team watched the Dodgers Jays game last night! The OR starts tomorrow. Thanks to all at home for supporting us here.
